What is the best method to go from Don Mueang Airport to Suvarnabhumi Airport?

The journey from DMK to BKK airport may be done by shuttle bus, public bus, taxi, or private transfer service, depending on your requirements.

A- Free Shuttle Bus between Bangkok Airports

If you arrive at Don Mueang Airport (DMK) and have a flight from Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) the same or following day, you may make use of a highly handy shuttle bus between the two airports. The shuttle bus service is provided at no cost.

There is no need to make a reservation for the shuttle bus since the service is offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

The first shuttle bus from Don Muang to Suvarnabhumi departs at 5:00 a.m., while the final bus departs at 12:00 a.m.

Shuttle buses run every 12 to 30 minutes, depending on the time of day.

The journey from DMK to BKK generally takes 50-60 minutes, however, it might take up to 2 hours if traffic is heavy.

Don Muang Airport’s free shuttle bus departs from Terminal 1. Buses are available outside the airport building on the first level, at door 6. Passengers are dropped off in the departures area of Suvarnabhumi Airport (4th Floor).

B- Public Transportation from DMK to BKK

If you don’t have a ticket for a flight leaving from BKK Airport the same or the next day, public transportation is the cheapest option to go from Don Muang Airport to Suvarnabhumi Airport.

Because there is no direct rail link between Bangkok Airports, while going from DMK to BKK by public transportation, you must first take a Bangkok bus and then transfer to a train bound for Suvarnabhumi Airport. There are three viable options for such a transfer between airports.

Option 1 - Bus and Airport Rail Link

From Don Muang Airport, take the A3 bus, which runs every 30 minutes from 7:00 a.m. to 23:00. The bus fare is 50 THB.

The Airport Rail Link Ratchaprarop station is served by the A3 bus service. You must drop off there and board the train. The Airport Rail Link ride from Ratchaprarop station to Suvarnabhumi Airport takes around 25 minutes and costs 40 THB.

When selecting this option, just one connection is required, therefore it may be the simplest alternative. However, since the bus is less regular, the travel may take a little longer.

Option 2 - Bus and MRT and Airport Rail Link

You must take the A1 or A2 bus from Don Muang Airport, which runs from 7:00 to 24:00, and depart every few minutes. The bus ticket is 30 THB.

Both bus lines stop at MRT Chatuchak Park Station, where you must get off. It’s the final stop on the A1 bus, so don’t miss it. From there, take the Bangkok Metro to Phetchaburi Station. The trip will cost 33 THB.

There is one additional transfer required here to travel from MRT Phetchaburi Station to Airport Rail Link Makkasan Station. These two stations are linked by a skyway, making it simple to travel from MRT to Airport Rail Link. The Airport Rail Link ride from Makkasan station to Suvarnabhumi Airport takes around 22 minutes and costs 35 THB.

Option 3 - Bus and BTS and Airport Rail Link

You must take the A1 or A2 bus from Don Muang Airport, which runs from 7:00 to 24:00, and depart every few minutes. The bus ticket is 30 THB.

Both bus lines stop at BTS Mo Chit Station, where you must get off. It’s the final stop on the A1 bus, so don’t miss it. From there, take the BTS to Phaya Thai Station. The trip will cost 37 THB.

One extra transfer is required here since you must go from the BTS Station to the neighboring Airport Rail Link Phaya Thai Station. The Airport Rail Link ride from Phaya Thai Station to Suvarnabhumi Airport takes around 30 minutes and costs 45 THB.

C- Public Bus from DMK to BKK

Bangkok buses Nos. 554 and 555 go from DMK to BKK airport. In Bangkok, public buses do not adhere to rigid schedules. Buses run along the major road close to Don Mueang Airport.

You may wait for the bus in front of Family Mart at the bus stop.

If you want to travel between airports at night, the sole public transportation option available is Bangkok bus No. 554, which may be used instead of a taxi.

D- Taxi from DMK to BKK Airport
